Alarm and Ringtone Volumes
A long‑standing complaint about the alarm and ringtone volumes being linked is addressed with a new option in Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Under the Alarms & Timers section, users can turn off the “Match Ringtone Volume” toggle. Once disabled, a dedicated slider appears, allowing the alarm and timer volume to be adjusted without affecting the ringtone level. The same Settings page also adds independent controls for system alerts, notification sounds, and keyboard clicks, giving users finer control over which audio cues are loud or muted.
Messages App Safeguard
In the Messages app, iOS 27 adds a safeguard against unintentionally sending voice recordings. By navigating to Settings > Apps > Messages, users can set “Show in text field” to “None,” which hides the small microphone icon that previously triggered voice notes. The feature does not remove the ability to send audio entirely; users can still access voice messages via the plus button or use Dictation if enabled in the keyboard settings.
Other Enhancements
Other enhancements include updates to Siri, a refreshed Liquid Glass interface, and improvements to the Phone Duo experience. Some AI‑heavy features may require newer hardware, but the core changes—independent alarm volume and the voice‑message toggle—are available across the supported device range, reflecting Apple’s effort to act on user feedback while delivering a smoother iOS experience.
