Vietnamese actor Nguyễn Bảo Bảo, born in 1995 and widely known after finishing as runner‑up in the 2020 comedy contest Cười xuyên Việt, has shown significant improvement following a severe health crisis.
On 12 September, colleagues Hữu Quốc and Bình Tinh reported that Bảo Bảo was admitted to the emergency department of Hospital 115 in a critical state, diagnosed with possible meningitis or tubercular meningitis and experiencing repeated seizures. The illness, linked to complications from a previous pulmonary tuberculosis infection that had spread to his brain, required intensive care unit (ICU) support for three to four days.
By the night of 13 September, the actor was transferred to Phạm Ngọc Thạch Hospital for continued monitoring and treatment. On 14 September, both Hữu Quốc and Bình Tinh announced that Bảo Bảo had regained consciousness, could recognize family members and colleagues, and was responding positively to medical care. The artists expressed gratitude to the medical staff of both hospitals and to the public who offered prayers, describing the recovery as a “miracle.”
Bảo Bảo’s career began at the Trương Hùng Minh theater, where he graduated with distinction, later joining the Huỳnh Long cải lương troupe and appearing in the film Đường về nhà xa qua and various TV programs. After a prior hospitalization in July, he had been discharged but faced this new emergency. Fellow performers, including Ngân Quỳnh and Thoại Mỹ, voiced relief and continued to hope for his full return to the stage.
