Vietnam Youth Union appoints new leadership and notable figures at 5th Central Committee meeting

Hanoi, 15 September 2024 – The 5th Central Committee meeting of the Vietnam Youth Union (HLH), marking the IX term (2024‑2029), convened in the capital and confirmed a slate of 38 members for the Union’s central governing body. Among the appointments, Nguyen Kim Quy, current Secretary of the Central Youth Union and Vice‑President of the HLH, was elected Chairman of the Central Committee for the IX term. He will be joined by two vice‑chairmen: Le Hai Long, a member of the Standing Committee and head of the Youth Union’s Children and Youth Affairs Department, and Do Tuan Hanh, a Central Youth Union executive committee member and deputy head of the same department.

In addition to the core leadership, the meeting highlighted seven distinguished individuals from diverse fields who were unanimously selected as central committee members.

  • Digital‑content creator and VTV Olympian host Tran Khanh Vy

  • Nguyen Phan Bao Thuy – president of Vietnamese student youth unions in Europe and France
  • University youth leader Nguyen Song Thien Long
  • Disabled content creator Dinh Viet Tuong, honored as “Vietnam’s Resilience Star” for 2025

Deputy Chairman Dang Hong Anh and Vice‑Chairman NSND Xuan Bac presented flowers to the newly appointed members. Hòa Minzy expressed pride in representing the arts sector and urged the Union to expand youth‑focused cultural programs. The assembled delegation also featured representatives from government, parliamentary, and military youth unions, as well as officials from ministries linked to youth development.
