On 15 September 2024, the Vietnam Youth Federation (VYF) held its 5th Central Committee meeting of the 9th term in Hanoi, streamed both on‑site and online. The session was chaired by Nguyen Tuan Lam, Secretary of the Youth Union and President of VYF, with Vice‑President Nguyen Kim Quy co‑presiding. Attendees included Party member Nguyen Minh Triet, Youth Union Secretary Nguyen Kim Quy, and the President of the Vietnam Student Union, among others.
Delegates Reviewed Draft Orientation for 2027
Delegates reviewed a draft orientation for 2027, adopting the theme “Enhancing the quality of grassroots organisations, expanding the front of unity, and mobilising youth.” Six focal areas were approved:
- raising the quality of local VYF units;
- rolling out the “I Love My Country” campaign;
- promoting youth participation in science, technology, innovation, digital transformation and private‑sector economic development;
- mobilising member organisations and social forces for youth welfare;
- organising flagship events commemorating major national milestones;
- strengthening people‑to‑people diplomacy and international integration.
The plan aligns VYF activities with national priorities on science, technology, education, health and the private economy.
Consolidation of VYF’s Leadership Cadre
A key agenda item was the consolidation of VYF’s leadership cadre. The committee pledged to translate the 13th National Congress resolution into concrete programmes, revise the competition and reward regulations to suit the new organisational model, and empower grassroots units at commune and ward levels. The meeting also reviewed the 2026 nine‑month performance report, noting the continued expansion of the “I Love My Country” movement across five pillars: patriotism, cultural heritage, learning‑innovation‑entrepreneurship, volunteerism, and unity‑integration‑development.
Practical Models for Wider Adoption
Practical models were highlighted for wider adoption, such as Nguyen Ngoc Quynh Nhu’s proposal to revamp drug‑prevention outreach. The 2027 action plan will thus combine strategic priorities with strengthened leadership and grassroots engagement to drive youth development nationwide.
