Event Overview
The T&T Group Marathon Vinh Long was held on 11‑12 September, attracting roughly 5,000 participants across four distances – 5 km, 10 km, half‑marathon (21 km) and full marathon (42 km). Organized by the Vinh Long Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in partnership with T&T Group and SkillLink, the event offered a free BIB 0 registration to encourage mass community involvement from both local and out‑of‑province athletes.
Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony featured provincial leaders including Deputy Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Bé Mười, Party Committee member and Vice‑Chair of the Provincial People’s Council, and Party Committee member Duong Hoàng Sum, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Both highlighted Vinh Long’s natural, cultural and economic advantages, stressing the marathon’s role in linking sport with tourism, green industry and cultural promotion.
Race Routes
Runners experienced a route designed to showcase the Mekong Delta’s scenery. The shorter 5 km and 10 km loops wound through coconut groves, verdant fields and early‑morning mist, offering a stark contrast to urban races. The 21 km and 42 km courses passed historic streets, the distinctive red‑brick pottery art lane, and riverside stretches near Cổ Chiên, Cồn Chim and other waterways, bringing participants close to local crafts and village life.
Race Hub and Atmosphere
T&T Homes Elite Rivera, a riverside urban development, served as the hub for race‑kit distribution, expo activities and the finish line. Participants noted the vibrant atmosphere created by traditional áo bà ba, national flags and family groups cheering along the course. T&T Homes CEO Hoàng Việt Cường emphasized that the marathon is less about competition than personal perseverance and communal enjoyment. The event succeeded in merging athletic challenge with cultural immersion, reinforcing Vinh Long’s identity as a dynamic, heritage‑rich destination in the Mekong Delta.
