On 13 September 2026, the “Trung thu mơ ước” (Mid‑Autumn Dream) programme gathered 700 children from vulnerable backgrounds in Tan Hưng ward, Ho Chi Minh City. Co‑organised by the Khăn Quàng Đỏ unit of Saigon Giải Phóng, the Sharing group, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the Central Economic‑Finance Committee, the event offered photo sessions, magic shows, interactions with traditional figures and a range of recreational activities.
Five hundred participants received individual gift packages valued at VND 1.1 million, which included school supplies, food items and a cash component of VND 500,000. An additional 200 children—those facing especially severe hardship, including residents of Hòa Bình village—were given gifts plus a VND 1 million scholarship, bringing the per‑child value to VND 1.6 million. The material gifts comprised milk, sugar, bottled water, candy, dried food, lanterns and mooncakes.
The festival is part of an annual effort that aims to assist 3,400 children across Ho Chi Minh City, An Giang, Tây Ninh and Đồng Tháp provinces, with a total budget of VND 3.8 billion. Earlier initiatives included the inauguration of Joy Park 2, a children’s playground built at Dương Minh Châu primary school in Tây Ninh, costing over VND 800 million and led by student Trương Tấn Phát and 27 peers.
The programme will continue on 15 September, delivering gifts to 400 hospitalized children, of whom 70 cancer patients will receive VND 5 million each to offset treatment costs. Overall, the 2026 “Trung thu mơ ước” campaign underscores a coordinated charitable push to provide festive joy and tangible support to Vietnam’s most vulnerable youth.
