Lexus blocks lane on Pháp Vân‑Cầu Giẽ highway, causing multi‑vehicle crash

13:30 on 15 September 2026, a serious multi‑vehicle accident occurred at km 201 of the Pháp Vân‑Cầu Giẽ highway, near An Duyn village, Phú Xuyên, Hanoi.

According to the Highway Traffic Police (CSGT), a Lexus sedan bearing the Hanoi registration 30L‑268.xx maneuvered erratically, cutting in front of a small car (license 29E‑303.xx) and then abruptly stopped on the lane adjacent to the central median, the section designated for the highest speed. The sudden obstruction forced the small car to halt, creating a bottleneck.

Shortly thereafter, a provincial intercity bus from Thanh Hóa, travelling north‑south toward Ninh Bình, collided with the stopped small car from behind. The impact left two people injured and caused severe damage to all three vehicles involved.

Video from the small car’s dash‑cam confirmed the Lexus’s aggressive lane change and illegal stop. The crash unfolded under heavy rain, which made the road slick and visibility poor, further reducing reaction time for following drivers.

The CSGT Team 3, Department 6 classified the incident as having criminal indications and transferred the full case file, evidence and the vehicles to the Phú Xuyên district police for further investigation. Authorities highlighted the heightened danger of lane‑changing, blocking, or stopping on high‑speed highways, especially in adverse weather, noting that such actions can trigger chain‑reaction collisions involving larger vehicles that require longer stopping distances.
