Around 12:00 p.m. on 11 September, a blaze broke out in a bakery oven located within a densely packed business‑industrial lane on La Tinh – Dương Nội road, Dong Nhan village, An Khanh commune, Hanoi. The structures, built mainly of steel frames and tin roofs and situated close to a retaining wall, allowed the flames to leap quickly from the bakery to adjacent shops and small factories. Within minutes a towering column of black smoke rose tens of metres into the sky, prompting local residents to call emergency services.
The Hanoi Fire and Rescue Police dispatched roughly ten fire trucks and dozens of officers, who attacked the inferno from multiple directions with high‑capacity water jets. By about 13:00 the main flames were under control, after which crews continued to spray water to cool the remaining hotspots and prevent rekindling. No casualties were reported; occupants of the affected premises escaped safely.
Preliminary on‑site assessments indicate that at least five storefronts and workshops were engulfed, with inventory such as water heaters, mobile phones, coffee supplies and bakery products reduced to ash and black soot. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, which appears to have originated in the bakery's production oven. The total material loss is being tallied, but the rapid response averted any loss of life and limited the spread to the surrounding neighborhood.
