10 September Rainfall
Southern Vietnam Meteorological Agency reported that the evening of 10 September brought the largest rainfall event in Ho Chi Minh City since the start of the year. Measurements taken between 07:00 and 21:00 showed several districts exceeding 100 mm, with Cát Lái reaching 124.6 mm, Củ Chi 119.8 mm, Thủ Đức 108.8 mm, Hóc Môn 97 mm, Dĩ An 94 mm, Nhà Bè 82.8 mm, Tân Uyên 73.8 mm and Cần Giờ 67.2 mm. The deluge caused deep flooding on major thoroughfares and knocked down trees along some routes.
11 September Forecast
The following day, 11 September, the agency warned that heavy rain would continue across Ho Chi Minh City and the broader southern region. Additional stations recorded high totals—Củ Chi 113.2 mm, Cát Lái 105.8 mm, Thủ Đức 81.4 mm, Hóc Môn 68.2 mm, Nhà Bè 76.2 mm and Bình Chánh 74.6 mm—indicating sustained intensity. Forecasts for 12–13 September predict widespread showers and occasional thunderstorms, though overall rainfall is expected to taper off. Temperatures are projected to range from 24‑27 °C at night to 29‑32 °C during the day.
Provinces likely to experience very heavy rain include Lâm Đồng, Tây Ninh, Đồng Tháp, An Giang and Đồng Nai. Residents are urged to monitor weather updates, avoid low‑lying flooded areas, and stay alert for hazards such as falling trees, lightning, strong gusts and localized flooding on urban roads.
